Attendance

Attendance Matters

We are dedicated to supporting your student's success at Santa Fe Junior High. Encouraging regular class attendance and punctuality is essential. We aim to maintain precise attendance records in compliance with Texas state regulations.

Increasing student attendance is one of our big goals for the year. We will have 9-week incentives, by grade level, that are going to be tied to good attendance. Please encourage your child to come to school every day!

*Students who are more than 10 minutes late to class will be counted absent.

*Make-up time will be required for those not in attendance for at least 90% of the day.

*Early release cut-off is 2:40 pm

Please note that students are required to attend a minimum of 90% of the scheduled class days, including excused and unexcused absences, as per state law.

Did You Know?

  • Districts in the state of Texas earn funding for things like art class supplies, new books for the library, upgrades to the facility, and more based on student attendance
  • Missing 2 days a month means missing over 30 hours of math problem-solving, science experiments, writing lessons, and history studies per year
  • Being 15 minutes late every day equals 2 missed school days per school year!
  • Compulsory education laws require students to be in school 90% of the school year. If they do not meet this requirement, they will be expected to serve make-up time after school.
